Celebrating 50 Years of Power, Progress, and Promise.
The 2019-2020 academic year symbolizes the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center (NMBCC) at Indiana University Bloomington. Our 50th-anniversary theme: "Power, Progress, and Promise", represents the commitment of the Center to serve as a home for Black students and a resource for Black people in the broader community.
Within the inaugural Neal-Marshall Legends Luncheon, we will honor the legendary individuals and groups who have tremendously influenced the IU landscape as we know it. This event will include presentations by Indiana University students and alumni, moments of reflection from past Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center directors, and spirited musical performances. We will call the names of the IU Black legends who paved the way and memorialize those who have passed on. In celebration of Indiana University’s 200 years, we will honor three legendary Black leaders with Indiana University Bicentennial medals.
